By achieving a fair and honest trading environment we aim to protect consumers and safeguard the health and well-being of the community.
Due to rising demand for our service, and limited capacity, we are changing what we provide. We will carry out more preventative work with the traders, who cause the most problems for consumers, and we will continue to support the most vulnerable individuals with their trading disputes.
If you have a problem with a trader, about which you need advice, contact Consumer Direct who will offer advice by telephone on how to resolve your problems. You will also be directed to the self help materials, such as template letters, to adapt and use yourself to resolve your problem. If you are vulnerable, and need further assistance, your complaint will be referred to us to help you resolve your problem.
We will use statistical information from Consumer Direct to direct the work we undertake. Ensuring we tackle the most problematic traders.
For those outside the county, please visit the Trading Standards Institute website to find your local office.
