Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment
This is Buckinghamshire Health and Wellbeing Board’s first Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA), published in March 2015. The PNA is a responsibility of the Health and Wellbeing Board, and was produced in collaboration by Buckinghamshire County Council Public Health Team, Aylesbury Vale and Chiltern Clinical Commissioning Groups, the Local Pharmaceutical Committee, and Healthwatch Buckinghamshire.
The PNA assesses the need for community pharmacies, and the services that they are commissioned to deliver. It is used by NHS England as a part of the market entry process, as well as by Buckinghamshire County Council and the Clinical Commissioning Groups to inform commissioning decisions.
You can access the executive summary of the report as well as the full document. In the Needs Assessment you will find a description of the PNA and the process of its development, a detailed description of the health needs of Buckinghamshire’s population, at a county and locality level, analysis of the services currently being delivered by Buckinghamshire’s community pharmacies as well as feedback from residents and professionals from the public consultation which ran from October - December 2014.
