Be a better biker
Calling all motorcyclists! Would you like to take your skills to the next level and ride more safely into the bargain?
The be a better biker assessment days will be held again this year as part of campaign to reduce the number of bike-related casualties on Buckinghamshires roads.
Since the campaign started in 2004, the number of motorcyclists killed or injured has been falling a not insignificant fact when you consider bikers represent 17 per cent of road casualties, yet only 1 per cent of traffic.
Our six assessment days are overseen by advanced motorcyclists. There are 12 places available on each day.
Riders will be taught manoeuvring, overtaking and cornering techniques. You can then put your new skills into practice with one of the highly trained assessors on roads where motorcycle crash's have previously occurred.
The days have been very popular with bikers: 'excellent course that should be compulsory for all motorcyclists', 'immensely valuable training. I would do it again'.
The dates and venues for 2008 are:
- 28th June Princes Risborough fire station
- 12th July Winslow centre
- 6th September Princes Risborough fire station
Bikers have been fully involved in the campaign from the start, this has been a huge part of the campaign's success.
With the bikers' help we have developed a campaign that appeals directly to them. A biker forum has been set up and Buckinghamshire biker groups, such as the Wycombe Mag and industry officials from the Motor Cycle industry Association have all attended.
