Office of Fair Trading (OFT)
The OFT now have many short information videos online. Subjects include buying a secondhand car, internet shopping, loan sharks, ticket scams and postal scams. Visit Youtube to see the videos.

Consumer Direct provide our telephone consumer advice service. If your issue is too complex or you are vulnerable (and cannot deal with the matter yourself) your details will be passed to Trading Standards for assistance.
In all cases Trading Standards will be made aware of the nature of your complaint and the trader about whom you are complaining. We will use this information to target our resources at tackling those traders causing the most problems for local residents.

Buy with confidence - Approved trader scheme
The aim of the buy with confidence scheme is to help consumers to avoid rip-offs and cowboys by providing a list of reputable local businesses, in a wide range of different trades. Member companies have been independently checked by staff from the local authority trading standards service against the scheme rules.
