Shortenills Centre

For more than 60 years we have provided fond educational memories for thousands of Buckinghamshire's young people. We offer residential courses and day visits to enrich the experience and knowledge of every visitor.

More recently, we are increasingly involved in the hosting and delivery of INSET courses including Forest Schools, Learning Outside the Classroom, first aid and Sustainable Schools.

We were awarded an Eco Centre ‘Green Flag’ some years ago and more recently the Quality Badge from the Commission for Learning Outside the Classroom (see New Developments for more detail).

Our Mission

To help and encourage all visitors to safely enjoy, value and respect the natural world while learning and participating in ways to sustain the planet that supports all life including themselves.

Managed and maintained by Buckinghamshire County Council, we are the county's only centre of this kind.  Our main customers are the Counties maintained primary schools but other schools and educational organisations are very welcome. During school holidays we host a number of educational courses for young people.
