Governors

Could this be you?

Schools are always looking to recruit governors, and are looking for people like you.

There are people like you making important decisions about how every school is run –school governors.  This is an important volunteering role that can help make a difference to the education of children in your local area. Governors come from all sections of the community: parents, staff at the school, the business world, representatives of local councils and churches. There is always a need for enthusiastic and committed people to serve as governors.

Being a school governor is a challenging and enormously rewarding opportunity:

  • A sense of satisfaction through knowing children will benefit from your efforts.
  • The opportunity to develop new skills and to strengthen existing ones.
  • The opportunity to work with people from a variety of social, cultural and religious backgrounds.
  • The opportunity to gain understanding in key areas such as finance, personnel and strategic planning.
  • The opportunity to gain awareness of the education system as a whole.
