Moving up to secondary school in September 2012 – the 11+ tests

During Year 6, children take the 11+ tests if their parents want them to be considered for a place in one of our grammar schools.  If you would prefer that they go to an upper school or a school in another area, they do not need to be tested.

Registering to take the 11+ Tests

The parents of children who do not go to a Buckinghamshire LA primary school should have registered their child to take the 11+ tests by 4pm on 16 September 2011 at the latest.

We will now only accept late applications from families who can provide evidence to show that they have very recently moved to the area or who have supported exceptional reasons for not being able to apply by the deadline.  If this applies to your family then please write to us, providing evidence to show why you could not register your child on time.

If you do have reasons to support your late registration application and your child has special education needs or a disability, you may wish to read our Guidance Notes about the 11+ tests before you get in touch with us.

Parents of children who attend a Buckinghamshire LA primary school did not need to register their child as we did this automatically.

The Results

The results for children whose completed tests we received by the end of October were sent to parents on 25 November 2011.  The parents of children who finished testing after this date will receive their child's results as soon as they are available.

Section 2 of our Guide - The 11+ Results - is available below.  This tells you what the results mean and what, if anything, you may wish to do next.  Information about appeals and how to request further details is available here.
