Rural initiatives

We are involved in a number of initiatives to ensure the vitality and sustainability of our rural communities. This includes overseeing the ongoing delivery of the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Rural Strategy 2008-2012.

We coordinate the Buckinghamshire Rural Affairs Group (BRAG), in partnership with Milton Keynes and also the Small Rural Towns and Rural Access to Services Programmes.

BRAG is the independent voice for the county's rural communities. It plays a central role in strategic influencing and policy development, supports projects and initiatives, holds an Annual Conference and adds value to high profile grants programmes such as LEADER.

We are also a member of the Rural Shops Alliance, which provides valuable support and advice to rural shops and services via the Rural Retailer magazine.
