Electrical waste

You can now recycle all domestic electrical and electronic equipment for free at your Household Recycling Centre. Recycling costs are met by the companies who make the goods.

Computers

Please wipe your hard drive before recycling at your local recycling centre.

Large appliances

Any large appliances such as washing machines, electric cookers, microwaves etc. All electrical items are broken down and recycled.

Fridges, freezers and air conditioning units have their cooling gases and insulation foam removed for treatment before recycling.

TVs and any products with a screen

TVs, minicomputers, personal computers, laptops etc.  The screens are removed first. Then the glass, metal and plastic are recycled.

Small appliances

Appliances with a plug or battery.

  • vacuum cleaners
  • irons
  • toasters
  • coffee machines
  • hair dryers
  • electric tooth brushes
  • telephones
  • computer equipment 

All electrical items are broken down and recycled.

Fluorescent lamps

We remove the hazardous mercury for reuse or treatment. The metal and plastic is then recycled.

Collection service

If you need items collecting please contact your District Council.  There will be a small charge.
