Fed up with potholes – we are too!

Government funding cuts and pressures from other services such as social care means there isn’t enough money to pay for all the work which needs doing on our roads.

However, a new single council for Buckinghamshire would save at least £18m per year – money which the new council could decide to put into more road resurfacing.

Have your say - it only takes a minute !

What TfB does

Acting on behalf of Buckinghamshire County Council as highway authority, Transport for Buckinghamshire (TfB) is responsible for maintaining over 3200km of highway throughout the county...

As well as repairing carriageway defects, TfB is also responsible for maintaining a wide and varied list of assets.

Details of all our service delivery principles can be found here.

What TfB will do for you – ‘Our Pledge’

  1. We put safety first in everything we do

Repairs are prioritised based on risk, and we have teams available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  The highway is also inspected on a regular basis – that’s roads, pavements, streetlights, bridges and gullies – to find any safety issues in need of attention.  The full Highway Safety Inspection Policy can be found here.

Our service levels for repairs on the highway are;

  • Emergency repairs – made safe within 2 hours, with a permanent repair planned for a later date
  • Depending on the severity of the repair needed, other repairs are completed within either 2, 5 or 28 days
  • Some repairs will be considered for future programmes of planned maintenance works

All issues reported to us are reviewed within 10 days. Please be aware that not every defect on the highway requires repair. If you consider it to be dangerous or an emergency, please call us on 01296 382416 (9am – 5.30pm Mon – Thurs, 9am – 5pm Friday) or 01296 486630 (out of hours and weekends).

Please use our online reporting tool for any highway issues

  1. We act professionally

We employ the right people, to do the right job at the right time, using the right materials.

By adopting a strategic approach to managing the highway, we balance day-to-day maintenance with longer term improvements.

  1. We will keep you involved

We will provide clear, up-to-date and relevant information about our work, as well as providing the tools for you to report issues to us.
