Stocklake Link Road (Urban)

Stocklake Link Road Highway Improvement Scheme

Stocklake June 2017The Stocklake Link Road (urban) scheme will form an important strategic part of the road network to provide significant highway infrastructure improvements to support housing growth and development in the east of Aylesbury. The urban section of the Stocklake Link meets the rural section at the new Oakfield Road/ Douglas Road junction (both constructed by Barratt Homes) and continues beyond Broughton Lane to the planned Eastern Link Road.

The scheme involved the construction of a new link road alongside the existing Stocklake road, which has been converted into a service road for residents with the creation of extra parking. The new link road runs along the line of the cleared track bed of the former Aylesbury – Cheddington – Birmingham railway, the first rail connection to the town, which opened in 1839 and closed in 1964. The main construction occurred between January 2016 and December 2016, with the newly constructed link road opening to traffic in June 2016.

Engaging Stakeholders

StocklakeVarious consultation periods and events were held throughout the project in order to liaise with stakeholders. An initial consultation event to introduce the scheme was held in December 2014 and a second public consultation event was held in March 2015 where initial design details were presented. Revised and final construction and landscaping plans were presented during a pre-construction information event in January 2016. A post-phase one construction information event was held in May 2016.
