About the project
This joint commission by Buckinghamshire County Council and Wycombe District Council is one of several schemes anticipated for delivery under the Wycombe Town Centre Masterplan and involves the installation of a toucan crossing to connect the East West Cycle Route within The Rye (public open space) with the town centre. Its aim is to provide better utilisation of the open space and encourage walking and cycling.
In addition to the installation of a toucan crossing, the following works were undertaken:
- Carriageway width reduction from two lanes to one lane on the eastbound side of the dual carriageway
- Upgrading of street lighting
- Resurfacing of Abbey Way for the crossing approaches.
The works were commissioned by Buckinghamshire County Council through Transport for Buckinghamshire. Ringway Jacobs were the Principal Contractor and Saunders Surfacing (Contractor) Ltd were appointed as their Subcontractor.
