Stocklake Link Road Highway Improvement Scheme
This (urban) scheme will form part of the road network to provide highway improvements to support housing growth and development in the east of Aylesbury. The urban section of the Stocklake Link meets the rural section at the new Oakfield Road/ Douglas Road junction (both by Barratt Homes) and goes beyond Broughton Lane to the planned Eastern Link Road.
It involved a new link road beside the existing Stocklake road, which has been converted into a service road for residents with the creation of extra parking. The new link road runs along the line of the cleared track bed of the former Aylesbury – Birmingham railway. The first rail connection to the town, which opened in 1839 and closed in 1964. The main construction occurred between January 2016 and December 2016, with the newly constructed link road opening to traffic in June 2016.
Engaging Stakeholders
Various consultation periods and events were held throughout the project in order to speak with stakeholders. An initial event to introduce the scheme was held in December 2014 and a second public consultation event was held in March 2015 where initial design details were presented. Revised and final plans were presented at an event in January 2016. A post-phase one event was held in May 2016.
