Free Parking

To support local communities, key workers and volunteers during the Coronavirus outbreak, all Council car parks and on-street parking will be free to use until further notice. Where possible, we urge residents to make full use of their local car parks during this emergency, so local roads can be kept as clear as possible. Please note some car parks are closed overnight, so may not be suitable for all to use. Restrictions on disabled parking bays will remain in force.

Amersham parking review

We are reviewing the parking controls in the Amersham area (yellow lines, parking bays) across 49 roads. The purpose of the review is to see if new parking controls are needed or if the current controls need to be changed.

The Amersham parking review started in December 2019.

Roads reviewed

We have been looking at roads where residents and others have reported parking problems to their local councillors and local councils. The parking engineers have made maps that show a possible solution.

Results of our informal consultation

The informal consultation for the Amersham Parking Review 2020 has now closed and the results have been published.

Second informal consultation

Some residents want us to do more work to find out what parking controls will work for them. We are writing to some people a second time with an amended plan and ask again for their view.

The second informal consultation will run from 28 February to 27 March 2020.

View or comment on the amended proposals

Official consultation and objections

Once we know roughly what residents want, we will make an advertisement in the local press inviting objections.

Every objection will be carefully considered and where possible the plans changed to accommodate the objection. The council's Cabinet Member for Transport will give the final approval to put in the new parking controls.

Implementation (estimated in late 2020)

We will put in another advertisement in the local press to say what the new parking controls will be. We can then paint the lines and put up the new parking signs.
