Apply for private access markings

Access protection markings (APMs) are white 'H' shaped lines, painted on the road. They are sometimes called H bars and are painted onto the road to draw attention to a driveway or access. These white lines are only for advice and have no legal standing. Although parking on them is not an offence, experience has shown they are respected by the majority of drivers.

The road markings will be put across the width of the access, this is to prevent parking problems for neighbours.

We will look into your request and let you know our decision either way. If approval is given we will arrange to have the work carried out.

Through the winter months (November to March) the installation of private access markings are weather dependant and there may be a delay in providing them.
