3. Iver traffic and transport study
In Summer 2016, the County Council commissioned a Traffic and Transport Study covering the villages of Iver, Iver Heath and Richings Park ("the Ivers"). The study provides a comprehensive view of current and future traffic and transport problems in the area, covering HGVs, private cars, public transport and walking/cycling. It also incorporates the expected future impacts of proposed nationally significant infrastructure developments in the area, such as High Speed 2, the Heathrow Express Depot relocation, Western Rail Link to Heathrow, Crossrail and M4 Smart Motorway (amongst others). A well-attended public exhibition was held in July 2016 to incorporate local views into this study – the boards presented and response forms can be found below.
The first stage of the Iver Traffic and Transport Study is now available below. A follow-up report is also available, which examines the traffic impacts of the experimental closure of Chequers Bridge (Hollow Hill Lane) by Slough Borough Council. High Speed 2 Ltd’s proposals for the relocation of the Heathrow Express Depot include a temporary closure of the bridge during construction and the Western Rail Link to Heathrow project, to be delivered shortly afterwards, proposes that the route is closed permanently. This survey helps give an indication of the impact of these proposals.
The Ivers Members Liaison Group (IMLG), a councillor steering group formed of elected representatives from Buckinghamshire County Council, South Bucks District Council and Iver Parish Council, has recently been formed. The group will use the recommendations of the traffic study below plus other local knowledge and proposals to drive forward a comprehensive mitigation plan for the Ivers over the coming months. The primary focus of the group is to promote and develop plans for an Iver Relief Road.
Aside from the relief road, the IMLG has discussed other traffic and transport matters including the most appropriate way to invest a Section 106 sustainable transport contribution from Pinewood Studios. A cycleway has been identified as the preferred option for the group and route options are being investigated.
