Formal consultation on whether the speed humps should be removed on a permanent basis

Developer: Transport for Buckinghamshire
Contact: 01296 382416

About the project

Resurfacing works have been undertaken to make repairs to the carriageway on Daws Hill Lane, this under the Capital Maintenance Program. Several sections of Daws Hill Lane required attention and to be able to make the repairs, it has been necessary to plane out the speed humps which themselves have deteriorated over the years.

Buckinghamshire County Council is in the process of conducting a formal consultation on whether the humps should be removed on a permanent basis and this is a statutory requirement. This includes consulting with District, Parish and County Council officers. As part of the consultation process, the residents in and around Daws Hill Lane have also been asked been asked to provide their opinions on the proposal.

At the present time, the consultation has yet to be completed. This because Transport for Buckinghamshire are waiting for the completion of the developer works to install and switch on the pedestrian crossing on Daws Hill Lane, and includes the resurfacing, lining, communications and lighting elements associated with the crossing. Once this has been done, a safety assessment of Daws Hill Lane will be carried out by the Network Safety Team. Its findings will form part of the consultation response before a recommendation can be made on whether the speeds humps should be removed on a permanent basis.

In the interim period, Transport for Buckinghamshire has carried out a set of speed surveys. The results of the survey will also be used as supplementary information and considered as part of the consultation.

Transport for Buckinghamshire apologise for the delay.

UPDATE: The signalised crossing has today (1st Aug 2017) been commissioned and is now in permanent operation. The Network Safety Team are now in a position to carry out a safety assessment of Daws Hill Lane as part of the consultation process.
