About the project

Following a successful first year, Transport for Buckinghamshire (TfB) will be continuing to deliver improvement measures aimed at a more sustainable, long term solutions to drainage problems identified on Buckinghamshire’s road network. During 2016/17, 20 schemes were completed.

Work has been taking place to assess known sites across the county where road surface water and ineffective drainage is an issue, to find ways of reducing, and hopefully removing the problem.  As well as more prompt removal of surface water, TfB have also looked at dealing with ditch capacity, making sure soakaways are sufficient, installing new gully systems and upgrading pipe sizes to increase capacity.

A Capital budget of £720,000 has been allocated in 2017/18 for such projects. Identified initially through Local Area Technicians, each treatment site goes through a thorough prioritisation process. Local knowledge, safety concerns, site visits, scans and CCTV footage of existing drainage may be taken into account before determining the priority of each site.  A long term solution to the problem is then found, designed and built.  All through this process, local residents and businesses are kept informed.

Work is currently being planned to take place at the following locations (updated 29th January 2018):
