Aylesbury Garden Town cycling and walking network
An Aylesbury Garden Town Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) has been produced to outline a comprehensive cycling and walking network for the town, including links to new residential developments and neighbouring settlements, providing connectivity with shops, schools and stations.
The Aylesbury Garden Town website provides further information on existing active travel routes and projects.
An important Aylesbury Garden Town aspiration is the provision of an 18km orbital park around Aylesbury called the Aylesbury Gardenway. This will provide a green corridor and accessible radial walking, cycling and wheeling connections around the town. More details are available on the Aylesbury Gardenway website.
Early stages of the Gardenway include:
Haydon Hill Cycleway
This key link will create a continuous pedestrian and cycle friendly route between the Waddesdon Greenway, Aylesbury Vale Parkway Railway Station and Aylesbury town centre. Construction on this off road route is due to be completed in 2021. Further information is available on the Haydon Hill cycleway webpage.
Berryfields-Buckingham Park Greenway
This will provide a key link for local journeys between two of Aylesbury’s newest neighbourhoods, whilst also offering links to the wider active travel network in the area. This off-road route, currently under development, is hoping to be completed in 2022.
