Frequently Asked Questions for Interim Library Service at Amersham Library

What if my books are due back while the library is moving into its temporary home?

Any loans borrowed from Amersham library will have their due for return date extended to be on or after 15th October

Will I still be able to collect my reservations from Amersham Library?

Yes, you will be able to order and reserve books to be collected from our library in the Chiltern District Council offices just as you do now.

Will there still be computer access? Will I still be able to print my documents at the library?

Yes, we will have 4 computer terminals that will be available for library customers, as well as a printer/scanner/copier.

Will you still be running sessions such as Bounce and Rhyme?

Unfortunately we will not be running Bounce and Rhyme sessions at our interim library. These, and other events such as coding club, are run at other local libraries and we will be offering information on alternative sessions that customers may wish to attend.

Will there be space for me to work and study?

Due to the size of our temporary space there will be no desk space available for customers. The amount of study/work space available at Chesham Library has recently been increased and we would recommend this as a possible suitable alternative.

Will I still be able to get a good selection of books?

Yes, we are stocking our temporary location with a variety of books, including children’s books, adult fiction and non-fiction, teen, spoken word and large print. We will also continue to have newspapers and magazines. We will constantly be rotating our stock to ensure that there is a good selection to choose from and different titles to tempt you every visit.  DVDs will not be available.

What parking will be available?

The Civic Centre car park (by the library) will remain open until mid-November. The Council Office car park is also available on Saturdays to users of the library. Further advice will be issued in November in relation to car parking.

What will happen to the Amersham Library staff?

The Amersham Library team will be working in the temporary library and will be there to welcome and help you when we open the temporary service on the 15th October.
