"Thank you for encouraging me to speak out and the opportunity to create and run my own event. It has given me the confidence to run further events and feel more comfortable with friends and in the workplace." Time to Change Champion
What kind of activity will we fund?
We want to fund social contact activity. At Time to Change Buckinghamshire, we define social contact as conversations that take place between people who have life experience of mental health problems and those who may not.
We often talk about the statistic that 1 in 4 of us experience a mental health problem in any given year. Social contact activity is run by the 1 in 4 - people with experience of mental health problems who are willing to share their stories. They are running the activity for the 3 in 4 - people who have not experienced mental health problems, with the aim of changing stigma they may have.
When people talk to each other and establish common ground, prejudices and assumptions are often challenged and replaced with mutual understanding and respect.

Are you eligible for the Champions Fund?
We have a limited amount of funding and we want to make sure it goes to people who will be able to use it in the best way possible.
To apply for funding, you need to be able to answer yes to the following questions:
1. Are you registered as a Time to Change champion?
Only individuals who are registered as a Time to Change Champion can apply for funding. Don’t worry, you can register.
2. Are you aged 18 or over?
This is because to accept the funding you need to be an adult. If you are under 18 and want to be involved in TTC there are lots of other ways.
3. Do you have lived experience of a mental health problem?
This funding is only for people who would describe themselves as someone who has had a mental health problem at some point. This is because we strongly believe that people who have experienced mental health problems should be leading activities to tackle stigma and discrimination. That doesn't mean that if you don’t have that experience you can’t run an activity or shouldn’t campaign on this issue, but this particular opportunity is just for those who do.
If you haven’t experienced mental health problems but want to run activity in your area, we have lots of resources you can use.
4. Do you live in Buckinghamshire?
Time to Change Buckinghamshire will only fund activity that will take place in Buckinghamshire. Champions Funds are running as part of Time to Change Hubs, these are local partnerships that will work together to deliver their own campaign that will support communities, places of work and schools to take action to change the way we think and act about mental health problems.
