What is strategic planning

3. Green Belt Assessment Report

An assessment of Buckinghamshire's Green Belt was commissioned in 2015 by the county's five local authorities.

As a supporter of the Green Belt, the county council was part of the project in order to evaluate and assess the suitability of land currently designated within the Green Belt. The project also aimed to identify additional land for Green Belt designation.

The last extensive review of the Green Belt in Buckinghamshire was carried out around 40 years ago, in the 1970s.

Assessment report

The assessment report, now published (below), will help the county council with the preparation of its emerging Buckinghamshire Minerals and Waste Local Plan. It has also helped the four district councils in the preparation of their local plans.

The county council values and respects the unique quality of Buckinghamshire's Green Belt. We will continue to resist inappropriate development in the Green Belt and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
