Local Access Forum

The Buckinghamshire Local Access Forum is an independent advisory body of 14 volunteers, giving informed strategic advice to the Rights of Way and Access Group. It was set up following the publication of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 and members are appointed by the council. The primary objective is to improve access and open-air recreation to the countryside for everyone.

More information on the advisory role of Local Access Forums can be found on the Natural England website.

Membership is drawn from a range of interests, balanced between those who use the countryside and those who manage it. During meetings, members engage in constructive debate and seek consensus on decision-making and advice.

Membership is made up of representatives from:

  • National Farmers' Union
  • Country Land & Business Association
  • Chiltern Society
  • Ramblers
  • National Trust
  • Trail Riders Fellowship
