2. Testing timeline

This is the timeline for entry into Year 8 or 9 in a Buckinghamshire grammar school in September 2019, which we will refer to here as the Late Transfer 2019 process. This process is for entry into the 8 grammar schools that are part of the Buckinghamshire Consortium as set out in 1. Late Transfer testing introduction. Dates relate to the 8 consortium schools only.. For all other schools please refer directly to their websites for further information.




From 5 November 2018

Parents register online for Late Transfer testing and provide school preference(s)

19 December  2018

Closing date for registering for the test & submitting your school preferences  

Deadline for address evidence. The child has to be resident at this address, on this date, for the address to be used for any allocations made.

Deadline for Sibling evidence

Deadline for Exceptional Medical & Social evidence

Deadline for Adjustments to Testing form and evidence

18 January 2019

Invitations to sit the test on Saturday 2 February 2019 are sent via email

Confirmation of attendance must be returned no later than 25 January 2019

2 February 2019

Late Transfer test takes place for any of the 8 consortium grammar schools

8 April -24 April 2019

Easter break (Good Friday 19 April 2019)

29 March 2019

Test results are emailed for those students who undertook the test on 2 February, 2 March and 12 March 2019.

The results of all other students who completed the test at a later date will be communicated as soon as possible

5 April 2019

For children who qualified at the test parents will be advised if a grammar school place can be offered. For those children who did not qualify parents will be advised what steps they can take next

Students who sat the test on later dates will receive details as soon as possible

10 May 2019

2nd round allocations are made if places are available for qualified students

Waiting list positions are advised

June 2019

Appeals begin. 

July 2019

Appeals continue.  Further allocations are made if places become available.
