Late transfer procedure September 2018 Admission

3. How do I register my child for testing?

Your school preferences will determine how you need to proceed. The table below shows whether you need to approach your preference school directly for testing, or whether you need to register for testing from 6 November 2017.

For the 8 schools below whose Late Transfer testing is managed by Buckinghamshire County Council, the deadline for applications is detailed below. Although some of these grammar schools may publish different deadlines for Late Transfer applications in their admissions policy, the deadlines below are the deadlines that will be followed.

Please also consider, when applying, how your child would travel to school if a place is offered. Check if you are entitled to free school transport

One you have looked at the relevant schools admission policies, then via the ‘On line portal’, you will need to provide us with details of siblings, free school meals, pupil premium or medical/social needs which may affect the ranking of your child. Please note that it is the parent’s responsibility to inform us of these details and if a sibling is allocated to a school for September 2018 through an alternative process such as the secondary transfer or in year process, then you must advise us so that we may take this information into consideration when ranking waiting lists. If you do not advise us, and provide appropriate evidence, we will not be able to rank your child according to each school’s admission rules.

Address evidence must be provided for all applications no later than 19 December 2017. The address used for the first round of allocations will be the address at which the child is resident at on 19 December 2017.

The address you enter on the online testing registration form must be the child's 'normal home' address and proof of residence must be provided to confirm this. Guidance regarding address evidence can be found in the online 'Guide for Parent Admission to Buckinghamshire Secondary Schools’ which can be found on the Admissions website.

The evidence can be sent through our contact us form or posted to the Admissions team. Please include the name of your child and their date of birth, when sending in evidence.

Living overseas

If you are currently living overseas, and returning to your property in Buckinghamshire for the academic year 2018, the address which will be used for the first allocation will be the address in which your child is living on 19 December 2017. You will be required to provide proof of residence. Please note that a Buckinghamshire address will not be considered as the home address until we have evidence that your child is residing at that address. This will include council tax bill, a utility bill showing usage and further evidence to show you have relocated.

Service families

Where Service families or families of other Crown servants who are subject to frequent movement, within the UK and from abroad, are posted to the area a Unit postal address or quartering area address will be sufficient in the absence of a new home post address. Where service families are returning to live in a property they already own, evidence of ownership will be needed.

Can my child take the test abroad or in a school elsewhere in the UK?

We often receive testing requests from families who live overseas or elsewhere in the UK, but who will be moving back to Buckinghamshire or the surrounding area before their child starts Year 8 or Year 9.

Children in such situations must travel to Buckinghamshire for testing: either on the advertised test date (3 February 2018) or at an agreed time once their move has taken place.

It is not possible for a child to be tested at any venue other than one of the eight listed Buckinghamshire grammar schools.

Moving into Buckinghamshire

If you have moved into the area prior to the deadline for applications please register using the ‘On line’ portal.  If you move in after the deadline of the 19 December please refer to our In-year admissions process

Buckinghamshire Grammar to Buckinghamshire Grammar

If your child currently attends a Buckinghamshire grammar school, and you wish for him/her to be considered for entry to an alternative Buckinghamshire grammar school in the next academic year, you must apply within this published Late Transfer timeline.
