2. Changing school if you are not moving house
Coronavirus and In Year applications (29 May)
Applications remain closed for immediate admission. If you made an application for immediate admission prior to 23 March (this is the day lockdown began) your application will be processed for admission in September.
Applications received from 20 April for admission in September will be processed in accordance with the published timeline.
Applications for children received for immediate admission can be offered for children to start in the relevant year groups (R, Y1 and Y6), this includes applications prior to 23 March (this is the day lockdown began). For all other year groups applications remain closed for immediate admissions unless government guidance allows for the return to school of additional year groups before September 2020.
If you have moved or intend to move into the county of Buckinghamshire and your child is not currently on a school roll then please complete our contact us form providing your child’s information. Key worker and vulnerable children will be prioritised.
We will continue to seek advice from the Department for Education so it is important that you check this webpage on a regular basis for any changes to the current arrangements.
You can only make applications for a school place starting in September 2020 from Monday 20 April. Please see our timeline for when applications will be processed.
There is no guarantee that your preferred school will be able to offer your child a place.
Step 1: who you apply to
The in-year application checker will let you know who you need to apply to.
Step 2: Ensure that you have your evidence
You will need to upload address evidence with your application . You cannot submit your application without it. You will need to submit a scan or photo of a utility bill dated within the last three months, showing usage.
Step 3: Applying to the Admissions and Transport Team
If your child is currently attending in a Buckinghamshire local authority school, an independent school, out of county school, or is educated at home, please complete the online application form.
Once you have submitted your application you will receive an acknowledgment email that will confirm that we have your application.
Step 4 We will write to you
Your application will be processed, and we will write to you depending on when we have received your application
Applications received between 20 April and 31 May will be processed by 21 July 2020
Applications received between 1 June and 21 July will be processed by the end of August/start of school September 2020, but this may not always be possible.
Applications received after 21 July will not be processed until after the start of school in September 2020
Due to the impact of the Coronavirus we may experience some delays with processing applications.
For most secondary schools and a number of primary schools decisions on the offer of a school place is made directly by the school not the local authority. If school staff are not available to make these decisions then your application could be delayed if this applies to your application, we will write to you.
