2. Data protection policy

How we will use your data

We have written a policy around the ways we will use the information we collect about you. Find more out about this policy.

We have a duty to take care with the personal data we hold about you. By personal data we mean the information about you which is stored or processed, or which forms part of an educational, social services, housing or health record from which you could be identified, either from that information alone or in combination with other information we hold.

We take our responsibilities in this area seriously. We are trained to respond to data protection issues and to help you to understand your rights. We are also auditing and updating our procedures to ensure the information we hold is as accurate as possible, in line with recommendations made by the Audit Commission.

We follow up and review our progress in implementing data protection requirements annually. In line with freedom of information expectations, we also publish an annual statement as to compliance and lessons learnt.

You should feel able to ask staff, with whom you have dealings, about data protection. In the first instance, queries and requests should be directed to those providing the service with which you are concerned. Subject access requests should similarly be sent to the office or service concerned.
