Attending a coroner's inquest during coronavirus
For the period up to and including 31 March 2021, the Coroner’s Court will only be opened shortly before any inquest listed on the forthcoming inquest list due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.
If you're attending an inquest, you'll need to confirm this with the Coroner’s Office no later than 12 noon the day before an inquest by:
- calling 01494 475 505
- emailing email@example.com
We would ask you to give as much notice as possible if you are attending a hearing. At all other times and between inquest hearings the Coroner’s Court will be closed to the public, however all the other services of the Coroner’s Office remain accessible by email or telephone during normal office hours.
If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, telephone the office on 01494 475 505 and do not attend the inquest.
Access to and from the court
On arrival, wait under the pergola in the courtyard until an officer calls you into the court.
While waiting you must respect the social distancing guidelines. Do not arrive more than ten minutes before the inquest is due to commence.
In the public reception area of the court, we ask that you wear a face covering. This may be removed when you enter the courtroom if you wish but you must maintain social distancing. When entering or leaving the building, sanitise your hands with the gel on the reception desk.
After the Inquest has concluded, you will be asked to leave the building promptly, to allow for cleaning between each hearing.
The entrance doors to Beaconsfield Coroners Court are locked between inquest hearings.
You will be shown into the courtroom and to your seats. You can only sit with members of your family who live in the same household.
The courtroom is cleaned between inquest hearings.
We are unable to provide any drinking facilities and ask that you bring your own bottled water if you wish to have a drink.
The disabled toilet is available for your use.
Please use the anti-bacterial wipes provided to wipe the toilet, flush, taps and door handle when you have finished using the facility. Please do not use any other toilet facilities in the reception area.
The family room is not available for use at this time. There are no rooms available for meetings within the building, prior or after the inquest for legal representatives.
