High street gets a fresh surface

Resurfacing of Winslow High Street and Buckingham Road has been completed at a cost of £350,000.

The task required enough tarmac to cover well over a football pitch, spread along a one kilometre stretch of the main A413 road. The project required a nine-man surfacing crew, plus a team of planning and preparation professionals.

Mark Shaw, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Transport, said: "While the resurfacing will have been a temporary inconvenience, for which I apologise, there's no doubt it will improve the quality of journey through Winslow for residents for many years to come."

Mark said Winslow’s work was part of the Council’s annual Road Resurfacing and Repair Programme on which £15 million is being invested over the year. Last month alone (July), 20 roads in and around 14 towns and villages - including High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Wing and Chesham - were resurfaced or repaired.
