    Council sees red as Blue Badge abuse reports increase

    Those found to be fraudulently using a Blue Badge for easier parking across Buckinghamshire could face prosecution, fines of up to £1000 and possible withdrawal of the badge itself.

    That's the clear warning from Buckinghamshire County Council as it brings in new measures to tackle the rising number of reports of suspected abuse of the Blue Badge scheme.

    Greenway opening by Transport Minister

    Schoolchildren, residents, walkers and cyclists are being invited to bring their bikes to the official opening of a new traffic free route from Aylesbury to Waddesdon. The event will start at Aylesbury Vale Parkway station at 10.45am on Thursday 13 September.

    Buckinghamshire school results continue to outperform national trends

    Key Stage 2 results published by the Department for Education this week show that Buckinghamshire primary schools have again achieved very strong outcomes when compared with the national figures. The provisional data shows that 66% of Buckinghamshire pupils achieved at least the expected standard across reading, writing and maths, a two per cent increase on last year’s results and two per cent higher than the national average of 64%.

    Marlow Bridge misuse – Statement by TfB and Deputy Leader Mark Shaw

    Last weekend, (1-2 September), Highways England (HE) closed a section of the A404 at Marlow to remove the Volvo footbridge for restoration works. 

    Given the location of the closure, and its proximity to the Grade 1 listed Marlow Bridge, Transport for Buckinghamshire (TfB) worked with HE and their contractor, Kier, to agree how the bridge would be protected from misuse by vehicles exceeding 3T. The agreement was for Kier to provide traffic management marshals to man both sides of the bridge and deter overweight vehicles.

    Stoke Hammond bypass surfacing rescheduled

    Surfacing work on Stoke Hammond and Western Linslade bypass has been rescheduled.  The bypass will close completely to all traffic for the coming two weekends. The schedule needed revising because unforeseen ground conditions required some additional work.

    Marlow Bridge plans will be on show at a public exhibition at the Court Garden House, Pound Lane, Marlow, on Tuesday 18 September. The Transport for Buckinghamshire exhibition will form part of the Marlow Flood Fair taking place between noon and 8pm.
