Together We Read: Klara and the Sun
Buckinghamshire Libraries joins library authorities and thousands of readers across the United Kingdom in offering the latest Together We Read: UK digital book club selection. From 29 September - 13 October, readers can experience Nobel Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun, longlisted for the Booker Prize 2021, as an ebook and audiobook for free. Readers can access the digital book with no waitlists or holds by downloading the Libby app or visiting https://buckinghamshire.overdrive.com. They can also participate in an online discussion with other readers across the country.
Together We Read connects readers in the UK with the same eBook at the same time through public library authorities. This two-week programme is facilitated by OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform for eBooks, audiobooks and magazines and creator of the award-winning Libby app.
About the book
Klara and the Sun tells the story of Klara, an “Artificial Friend” with outstanding observational qualities. Klara watches carefully from her place in the store the behaviour of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass in the street outside. She remains hopeful a customer will soon choose her, but when the possibility emerges that her circumstances may change for ever, Klara is warned not to invest too much in the promises of humans.
