The Reading Agency and libraries are excited to introduce Space Chase, Summer Reading Challenge 2019; an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.

This summer children will help our super space family track down books nabbed by mischievous aliens! As they read library books, they will solve clues and collect special stickers to complete their mission folder. Can they find the aliens in time to save the day?

The Challenge touches down in Buckinghamshire Libraries on Saturday 13th July and features bespoke artwork from top children's illustrator Adam Stower.

Children's reading can 'dip' during the long summer holidays if they don’t have regular access to books and encouragement to read for pleasure and this can be a problem for schools to put right in the new term. The Reading Agency’s annual Summer Reading Challenge, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, really helps by getting over 700,000 children regularly into libraries over the summer. There is no other free reading activity that involves so many children, introduces families to their library, encourages children to choose books freely and independently and is endorsed by parents, teachers and the Department for Education.

More information about how children can take part will be available soon.
