Buckingham Library Turns 70

Last week Buckingham Library celebrated 70 years since the opening of Buckingham's first library in 1949. The original library was moved to the library's current site back in 1963.

Staff and customers alike joined in with the festivities which were enjoyed by all. The mayor of Buckingham, Jon Harvey, cut the superb cake which was baked for the occasion.

There were competitions, historical pictures and archives, and even a re-enactment group who brought artefacts from the 1940s and dressed in costume as a nurse, policeman and housewife. The library also launched their new Macmillan Information Point.

The staff dressed to complete the theme and feedback from all the visitors was extremely complimentary. Many thanks to all those who attended.
