Bucks County Show
We had a fantastic response at our stand during this year’s Bucks County Show! It was only with the attendance of our four foster carer representatives, Debbie Armstrong, Sheila Doig, Elaine Wootton-Haley and Enid Gumbs – who kindly volunteered their time and were indispensable in their dedication to the interested parties gathering at our stand for much of the day – that we were able to fully take advantage of this important opportunity to spread the word about Fostering with Bucks!
Armed with a table full of baked goods to entice passers-by to like our Facebook page for a cake, with a number of people taking a card to pass on to a local community group as well as ‘liking’ the page.
It was also a good networking event in terms of early discussions with an alternative medicine provider who has offered free stress management workshops to children our residential homes, as well as training sessions for foster carers. We had more engagement with Bucks Childminding services and the Live Well, Eat Well team – discussing further opportunities of joint promotion. Finally, we were fortunate enough to be able to pass along some leaflets to an attending minister who will share with her church congregation situated in Gerrard’s Cross.
All in all, we came away with a whopping 9 formal expressions of interest, a 15 minute radio interview with Wycombe Sound in the morning, a fantastic opportunity to push our myth busting and inclusivity messaging to a fresh audience, as well as encouraging attendance at the information event on 11 September in High Wycombe.
