A note from our Fostering Team Manager at Easter
Big changes are coming… We’ve had some successes to celebrate over the later part of April and early May. Two foster carers have joined our steadily growing team and our recent information events have culminated in a rise of enquiries from a diverse cross section of households.
With April marking the end of the financial year, we have had an opportunity for positive reflection…our target for 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019 was to approve 15 new placements; however, 15 households were approved at Panel during that time, which generated 19 new placements. Our target for 2019/20 is 20 new placements. We will be more than half way to that target by the end of July – only a quarter of the way into this financial year. We know that we couldn’t make these increases without your combined professionalism, experience and willingness to go out of your way to take emergency placements. Thank you.
A digital copy of the revised Staying Put policy will be making its way to your inboxes soon. Please let us know your thoughts and feedback when you can.
This newsletter contains some very exciting news about the awards ceremony venue, some solid outcomes from the events we have hosted over Foster Care Fortnight, an update on our referral rewards scheme and the beginnings of a new strategy to get our young care leavers more apprenticeship opportunities for the future. We also have updates on the Leisure Card system, support groups, training and things to do in the local area.
