About this Directory

This directory has been compiled by a group made up of representatives from a variety of health, education and social care services in Buckinghamshire.

All services want to provide the best possible opportunities for all children in Buckinghamshire; not just to protect our children from any harm, but to make sure that they thrive and develop to their full potential.

The government has consulted children and young people and they came up with five things that they thought all children should enjoy:

• Being healthy; 

• Staying safe; 

• Enjoying and achieving; 

• Making a positive contribution; 

• Economic well-being.

All services in Buckinghamshire are committed to these outcomes.

As the title suggests, this site links information which is already available, so that it is easier to find. Anyone involved with children, young people or their families, should be able to see what help and support is available within the County and beyond, and how to access it.

This directory was planned to be of use to practitioners working with children and young people. However the information may be of interest to a wider audience and we hope that it includes explanations of what professionals do, where they work and the breadth of services available . Young people, families and carers are all welcome to use the directory and to give us their comments. We hope that you will also find it helpful and informative.

There are details about who the services are for. This includes whether individuals can contact the service themselves, if referral is through a school or health visitor for example, and what the criteria are for referral.

The directory is divided into 18 sections, plus this introduction, a list of definitions and a list of acronyms. The information is then listed alphabetically within those sections. Please click on the title and that will either take you to the full information, or in many cases will take you to the organisation's own website, which is not part of this directory.

Some agencies appear under more than one heading. To avoid duplication full details only appear once and you will be directed to the correct place.

There is also a key word search facility. The word search will take you to sections where there is an entry with the key word in the title. Alternatively go straight to the section that is relevant.
