Traffic management

Traffic management is required to implement the Local Safety and Area Strategy Schemes Programme and liaise with the general public, local councils and other organisations on traffic and road safety issues including the promotion of all Traffic Regulation Orders and cycling and walking policies. Additional requirements are to:

  • To oversee the implementation of the 400 plus schemes contained within the Local Safety and Area Strategy Schemes Programme
  • To formulate policies, provide advice and liaise with the general public, local councils, other representative organisations and other sections of the County Council
  • To deal with traffic management issues in accordance with national and locally agreed policies, with specific reference to strategic aims of the Council Plan
  • Where County funds are not available, to encourage the undertaking of externally funded schemes
  • To present reports at and provide advice to the Council’s local committees
