1 in 5 newly qualified driver's crash with in their first year of driving.
The Get in Gear course is offered to drivers who have recently passed their driving test.
It aims to give them the skills to cope with driving independently and to reduce the chances of being involved in a crash.
Essential training that you didn't even know you needed.
Get in Gear is delivered in two parts, an interactive presentation and four hours advance driver training.
The presentation is a chance to consider how you need to develop to become an even better driver; and to discuss key issues that affect new drivers.
The driver has an opportunity to put it all into practice with the help of an Approved Driving Instructor. The drives are completed as 2 x 2 hour sessions and routes will include:
- Driving on rural roads
- Driving on dual carriageways
- Motorways
- Town driving
