Community safety

together we can

Community Safety issues include:

  • Crime and disorder
  • Anti-social behaviour
  • Fear of crime and building confidence
  • Promoting safer homes and neighbourhoods
  • Environmental issues such as litter, graffiti, fly tipping and abandoned vehicles

Reducing crime and the fear of crime and intimidation

Buckinghamshire is one of the safest places to live in the country but crime and disorder still exist and its effects on your quality of life are serious issues for all communities.  Community safety is a broad term and is achieved through reductions in both actual crime and the fear of crime.

We work with the Community Safety Partnership (CSP) in Buckinghamshire to help people feel safe. The CSP is made up of:

  • Fire authorities
  • The police authority
  • Youth offending teams
  • Primary care trusts
  • Local authorities
  • Drug action teams
  • The probation service

The safety of our communities is our main concern and our services and partners make sure that the prevention of crime and disorder and the safety of our residents and visitors is considered in everything we do.

Hate crime and hate incidents survey

We are carrying out a survey on people’s experience of hate crime and incidents and their views of the services available for those who have experienced such incidents. We want to hear from anyone in the community, including those from minority ethnic groups and disabled people. This survey will help us make sure that there are adequate and effective services available.

Hate incidents and hate crime is the targeting of one or more people because of:

  • Their race
  • Disability
  • Religion or faith
  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender identity

This could be physical or verbal attacks, threats and intimidation or damage to and defacing property.

This survey is confidential, you do not need to add any personal details - unless you would like to take part in future focus groups. The report, or extracts from it, may be shared with third parties.
