Research guides

Our research guides are intended to provide introductions to those investigating different aspects of Buckinghamshire's history. They are focussed on the topics on which we receive the most enquiries from our readers. The available guides currently include those to family history, local history and house history. This last also contains details to assist those undertaking histories of specialised houses like pubs.
Guides on other underused parts of our holdings like manorial records and the records of the Quarter Sessions court are coming soon.
General reference works on many research topics are available from our Local Studies Library if you are interested in taking your work further.
