Roadworks
We have a detailed works programme listing all approved highways improvements and maintenance schemes. This includes council highway repairs, maintenance and improvement works, as well as utilities works. We try to plan essential work well ahead, but this is not always possible. The majority of roadworks are done by statutory undertakers (including gas, water, electricity, telecommunications and cable companies) and we do our best to co-ordinate these. Sometimes emergencies demand prompt action.
Motorways and trunk roads are managed by the Highways Agency and you can find out about works on these roads by calling their information line on 0845 7504030.
