Working in childcare

There has never been a better time to work or train in Early Years & Childcare Sector.  It continues to remain very high on the Government’s agenda to meet the needs of families across Buckinghamshire.

Group of childrenEarly Years & Childcare are all important in a child’s development.  A career in early years and childcare requires an individual to be responsible, reliable and flexible.  You are also required to have qualities such as patience, enthusiasm, and be of a caring nature.

Society is so diverse, and children need to see this reflected in the childcare workforce.

Before you can start working or training with children you are required by law to undergo checks i.e., DBS checks, to establish if you are suitable.  You will also need at least two detailed references (from your current or most recent employer) and full details of your working history for the past five years – including reasons for employment gaps.

There are several different job roles within the childcare workforce With various routes into Early Years and Childcare, according to your qualifications and experience.
