We are responsible for arranging the disposal of all household rubbish generated in the county:
- 10 household waste and recycling centres
- Initiatives to encourage the reduction and recycling of rubbish
District councils are responsible for:
- House to house collection of domestic waste in wheelie bins or black bags
- Special collections of bulky items from private dwellings (there may be a charge)
- Collection of clinical waste from private dwellings
- Street cleaning including emptying litter bins, collecting fly-tipped rubbish on public land and street sweeping
- Recycling banks (glass, paper, cans, plastic, etc.) other than those at household waste sites
- Abandoned vehicles in any public area
