Traffic lights
We own all traffic signals on all our adopted roads. Signals on trunk roads, such as at Handy Cross in High Wycombe, are the responsibility of the Highways Agency
Placement follows Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions (DLTR) and BCC policy. Traffic lights may be installed:
- Due to possible traffic hazard
- To manage traffic flow from new developments, schools, leisure centres. In some cases developers will finance new signal
Anyone wishing to apply for lights to be installed should contact us.
Pelican crossings
May be installed:
- To control pedestrian movement across a highway
- To ensure pedestrian safety
Maintenance
40% of signals have automatic fault reporting and we intend to introduce remote monitoring for all signals. Lamps are replaced every six months.
