Get in the habit

This campaign encourages drivers and passengers across the county to put on their seatbelt.
As part of the ‘Get in the Habit’ campaign, roadside checks took place in two locations across the County; vehicles were stopped if occupants were seen not wearing a seatbelt. During the two days a total of 30 people were stopped, they received a fixed penalty notice, which carries a £60 fine, but they have the chance to have the fine cancelled if they attend an education workshop. The workshop was held at Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue headquarters in Aylesbury. Half of the people stopped for not wearing a seatbelt attended the presentation; to have their ticket cancelled they have to stay for the duration of the workshop
The scheme aims to change people's attitudes and behaviour, by reminding drivers and passengers of the importance of belting up before starting a journey. A crash can happen at any time, particularly on familiar roads, close to home.
It takes about two seconds to put on your seatbelt. So add that vital two seconds to the start of your journey and don't be a statistic. From zero to safety in two seconds. Get in the Habit!
