Training

We recommend Bikeability training, a national cyclist training syllabus recognised across the country.  All of our trainers are accredited to train to this standard. There are three Bikeability award levels from cycling in a traffic free environment to cycling on busy roads and being able to use complex junctions and road features.  For more information on Bikeability please log on to http://www.bikeability.org.uk

Bikeability can be booked privately; however, it is also run through many schools in the County.  Schools can apply for available funding through the Council to supplement the cost.  All our cycle trainers, listed on the link below, are accredited to train to the national standard which not only sets a baseline for the quality of cycle training, but also allows people to change instructors with minimal difficulty if required. Our trainers are also CRB checked.

What does a training course involve?

Training courses usually run in 3 or 4, 2-hour sessions following the principles of safe cycling.
They start with the basics of off-road cycling and progress to on road training, building awareness and confidence.

How much do the lessons cost?

From £40 - £55 per course.  Schools can apply for funding through the Council to supplement this cost.

What equipment will I need?

All you will need is a bike in good working order. You should also ideally have a cycle helmet.
