Current status

New speed limits were put into this area in January 2007.

We have looked at the effects of the changes on speeds and crashes  and we have asked  district, town and parish councils for their opinions. An independent market research company has carried out a random telephone survey of 200 people in the area for feedback. This showed the majority of people agreed with the new limits:

  • 76% agreed with all the new 30mph speed limits
  • 73% agreed with all the new 40mph speed limits
  • 62% agreed with all the new 50mph speed limits
  • 58% agreed with all the new 60mph speed limits on the A412 dual carriageway.

We have investigated  requests for further changes to speed limits within this area

Comments must be sent by 22nd May 2009 to Laura Witney, Legal & Democratic Services, County Hall, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP20 1UA or by email to  lwitney@buckscc.gov.uk

Deciding the changes

The working group will meet to discuss all the responses from the public consultation and make final recommendations for change.

A report on the proposed changes will be written and presented to our cabinet member for approval. Once approved the changes will implemented.

A summary of the views expressed and the approved recommendation will be available in the Cabinet Member Reports

Implementing the changes

Once the legal documents, the Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO), are confirmed and publicised, the speed limit will be shown by signs and markings on the road surface at the beginning of the lower speed limit.

The police will be able to enforce the new speed limits once all legally required signs and markings are in place.

After the changes are in place

We will continue to monitor and review the effects of the changes.
