Network Hierarchy Reference Document

The Buckinghamshire Network Hierarchy Reference Document has been produced as part of the Network Management Duty placed on the Buckinghamshire Transport Authority by the Traffic Management Act 2004.
Without seeking to be a design guide, the document brings together into one reference point a summary of the key policies and functions of the transport network in Buckinghamshire. This includes Rights of Way, footways, cycle-ways, and roads.
Although primarily established for the use of transport and other practitioners, public consultation indicated that the document could also be of interest to the wider general public.
By looking at the document you will be able to see information about different parts of the network and for example find out more about:
- how the winter salting routes are selected – section 6.16
- what are the different types of cycle routes – section 6.6
- what is a Traffic Sensitive Street – section 6.17
- what routes are Heavy Goods Vehicles expected to use when travelling through the County – section 6.21
- what are Congestion Management Corridors and where are they or planned to be located within the network – section 6.13
To help us make this page and access to the reference document as helpful as possible we would be really grateful if you could give a few moments to provide some constructive feedback by visiting the have your say section and select 'current and planned consultations'
