Green Transport Week

Green Transport Week runs from the 14th-20th June and is a chance for us all to try a new mode and leave the car at home. In fact, why not try a different mode every day?
- Monday – Walk in to work out
- Tuesday – Beat the queues, catch the bus
- Wednesday – It’s better by bike
- Thursday – Keep on track, travel by train
- Friday – Queues unlikely if you car share!
The Travel Choice team at Buckinghamshire County Council are encouraging businesses and communities to devote this week to using more environmentally friendly modes of transport. This will result in reduced congestion on the roads, less pollution in the air and more spare cash as money is saved on petrol and other car costs. There are also benefits to your health as you can travel green and get fit at the same time.
As half of all journeys are two miles long, walking and cycling are ideal ways to travel, yet a lot of people don’t think twice about jumping in the car. Green Transport Week provides a great opportunity to see how walking, cycling and even car sharing or catching the bus or train can fit into your everyday life.
Even changing your mode of transport one day a week will reduce congestion and pollution by 20% whilst increasing your fitness and saving money to spend as you choose – a summer holiday, a day out with the family, or even a new bike!
