Food enforcement

We play an important role in protecting you:

  • We carry out checks to make sure food labelling is not misleading.
  • We carry out checks on the composition of food.
  • We check pubs and restaurants for spirit substitution.
  • We check restaurant menus to make sure they are not misleading.
  • We make routine inspections to ensure food is not sold past its use by dates.
  • We advise Buckinghamshire food manufacturers and importers to ensure their labels and food comply with the relevant legislation.

We look at the nutritional and health aspects of certain foods to enable the consumer to make a more informed choice when buying their food.

We also work with Environmental Health Officers at the District Councils.

Environmental Health Officers are responsible for:

  • food poisoning
  • food hygiene

Halt the Salt

Chinese restaurants taking part in the halt the salt campaign say that customers have reacted positively and welcomed the new initiative.

Have you thought of asking for the levels of salt in the dishes you order in Chinese restaurants or takeaways to be reduced? Noodle Nation in Aylesbury is actively promoting healthy eating. Ask the chef to Halt the Salt.
